This section explains how to set up an FTP connection between a Mac and a Sony camera to transfer photos directly from the camera, which is especially useful for studio photography, as it allows you to quickly transfer captured images from the camera to the Mac. Here we introduce a connection method using the QuickFTP Server
application, which can be easily set up.
Easy connection setup using QuickFTP Server
By installing the QuickFTP Server
application on your Mac, you can easily set up an FTP server. Using this app, you can immediately transfer data from the camera without complicated settings.
Procedure
- Install and launch
QuickFTP Server
on your Mac. - Start the FTP server in the app and confirm the
IP address and
port number of
the server. - Next, configure the FTP connection settings on the Sony camera side.
FTP settings on the Sony camera side
In order to connect from the camera to the Mac, “Secure Protocol” must be turned off in the FTP settings of the Sony camera.
Configuration Procedure
- Go to the
Network Settings
menu of the Sony camera. - Select
FTP Transfer Settings
and set the IP address to be connected to to the address of theQuickFTP Server
on the Mac. - Set the
Secure Protocol option
to Off. This will allow unencrypted FTP connections. - Save the settings and start the transfer.
Notes on Connections
Turning off Secure Protocol
allows unencrypted communication, so please be careful about security. We also recommend using an internal network or password-protected Wi-Fi environment.
This completes the FTP connection between the Mac and the Sony camera and allows for smooth photo transfer.
